What do I need in order to travel to Canada?
To travel to Canada, you must have a valid passport. Canadian and US citizens do not require anything further. However, citizens of other countries may require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visa, depending on nationality and mode of travel.
Citizens from visa-exempt countries travelling to Canada by air are required to obtain an eTA prior to boarding their flight. The cost is CAD $7 and in most cases the eTA is granted immediately, however it could take up to 72 hours. Should you require an eTA, we recommend you apply at least a week before travel. Please ensure you fill out and submit the authorization form if this applies to you. Conversely, individuals from visa-required countries must apply for a visa before their trip. It's important to note that entry requirements can vary based on specific circumstances, so you should consult the official Canadian government website to determine the exact documentation needed for your journey.
To assist with your entry requirements into Canada, we have obtained a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) clearance letter for Innovate Canada. To expedite border procedures, we recommend that all international attendees have a copy of this letter ready for presentation to the CBSA Border Services officer upon their arrival to Canada. It will be sent to you via email prior to the start of the program.
What should I wear?
May in Calgary can be unpredictable with temperate days and cold nights. The average high is 17°C (62°F) and the average low is 4°C (39°F), so we recommend bringing layers and comfortable shoes for walking to and from offsite programming. For daytime programming, business casual is recommended—wear what you are comfortable in.
