How do I book my flight?
Partners and ocean industry experts are required to book their own flights. We ask that your flight arrive no later than 2:00pm on Monday, July 25 to participate in the partner briefing at 4:00pm. Please book your departure from St John’s no earlier than 4:00 pm on Thursday, July 28.

Where do I go when I arrive at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland?
You will see the Innovate Canada check-in counter in the lobby of the hotel on August 31 from 12:00 pm-5:00 pm. We ask that you stop by during these hours to pick up your room key, welcome
package, and event details. If, however, you are arriving before, you may proceed directly to the Sheraton check-in desk to obtain your room key. Please remember to stop by the Innovate Canada registration desk to pick up your welcome package! If your schedule does not permit, we will have it delivered to your room.

How will I get around to the events during Innovate Canada?
Complimentary transfers to/from all off-site programming are provided by Destination Canada’s Business Events team and our sponsors.

Where should I go to meet our event transfers?
Please meet in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland by the Innovate Canada sign for all event transfers.

What is the dress code for Innovate Canada?
There will be a number of different activities taking place at Innovate Canada. From city excursions, to business meetings, cocktail receptions, to a gala style signature dinner, we recommend that you wear what you are comfortable in for each situation. There will not be a dress code for any of the activities. Business Casual for the daytime is recommended.  Please bring comfortable footwear.  If you are taking part in the Ocean Tech Tours, please make sure to bring a warm coat for the tour at the NRC.

What is the weather like in St John’s in July?
The average daily highs in late July reach 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit (18-23 Celsius).  Evenings can be quite cool in the high 50s and low 60s (14-18 Celsius).  Please check your preferred weather app in advance of your arrival.  Here’s hoping for sunny and warm!

What are the one on one meetings?
The one-on-one meetings are a set of 20-minute rotating informational sessions that allow you and your oceans expert to connect with each invited guest to share what your destination offers in terms of supporting business events, trade, expansion or investment.

How is my one on one meeting schedule determined?
We will be building a pre-set schedule for each guest to meet with each partner.  The schedule will be posted in your personal schedule on the event app approximately one week in advance of your arrival.

How can I ensure my travels internationally into Canada go smoothly, especially at the Border?
To assist with your entry requirements into Canada, we have obtained a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) clearance letter for Innovate Canada 2022. To facilitate speedy Border procedures it is recommended that all international attendees have a copy of this letter ready for presentation to the CBSA Border Services Officer upon their arrival to Canada. It is available HERE for download.
